Leaders of Excellence Programme (LEP)

“An immensely enjoyable programme providing just the right combination of teaching and action.”

“I will definitely use what I’ve learned to inform my future action / style as a leader within IND.”

LEP is an intensive, three-day, personal development programme for selected senior managers, and is the third tier in our suite of challenging leadership development programmes delivered in partnership with Ashridge Management College and Lane 4 Performance Coaching Consultancy. It is intended to enhance leadership capability and maximise strategic analysis and thinking so as to enable IND to deliver its plan, and participants to realise their full potential.

Programme profile

The programme takes place at Ashridge in Hertfordshire over three days and is residential. LEP is an intensive workshop and is followed up with one-to-one coaching. Sessions include:

  • The IND leadership context;
  • Leading strategic change;
  • One-to-one coaching; and
  • Leading for performance

The programme centres on a set of leadership capabilities, which build on, and are complementary to, our competence frameworks. Participants will assess themselves and receive 360º feedback against these leadership capabilities as part of the programme.

Participant profile

This programme is for experienced Grade 6s (and some experienced Grade 7s) in key leadership roles that support the delivery of IND’s critical business activity. Participants will be very committed to maximising the impact of the programme (which is a significant investment for IND) on their own performance and that of their teams, their directorate and the organisation as a whole.

Selection process

Places on the programme are limited. Directors will discuss participation in the programme during the PADR/PDP process and will nominate individuals accordingly. The IND Director of Learning and Development will, in dialogue with the SEG, make the final selection for each programme.
